[AUTOSAVED] To Stage or Not To Stage…….That is the Question.

The answer is YES.

I have worked in the real estate field for 7 years now and can tell you that a staged home is a much easier sell. I am not a real estate agent anymore but still enjoy browsing real estate sites to see the photos of the homes that are for sale. Over the years the FSBO or for sale by owner websites have become more and more popular meaning that the owners do not even get a real estate agents suggestions on what they should do to make their home ready for sale. I am impressed with some of these private sale homes, the pictures are fantastic. I have also seen photos on both the private sale sites and real estate sites that I couldn’t believe. Unmade beds, messy living areas and I even saw one that had a picture of the kitchen with dirty dishes in the sink! How many people do you think are phoning to see that house?

A staged home is appealling, comfortable, uncluttered and depersonalized making it a must see for a broader range of potential buyers. 95% of buyers can not see beyond what is right in front of them, they do not see what the house could be and the value in that. Do you want to take that chance when you are selling your home?

When I bought my first home two years ago I knew as soon as I stepped in the door that this was my house. I could see the potential, which the home owners were trying very hard to hide! I do have to thank them for that, I believe that if they had staged their home it would not have sat on the market for over 4 months and I would not have been able to buy it for $10,000 less than asking.

When you are ready to sell your home remember that 76% of potential home buyers start searching on the internet. If the photos are not showing your home at its best then potential buyers will click to the next one and you will never know how many potential buyers you have missed. You only get one chance to make a first impression!
