Online user survey completed
New mls.ca user study
A new profile of property buyers and sellers in Canada developed from a survey conducted through the mls.ca web site shows the highest percentage of those who have never owned a property are in Ontario, while the highest percentage of those who have bought and sold more than once are in Alberta.
More than 10,000 consumers responded to the online survey displayed on the mls.ca and sia.ca web site in a ten day period that ended June 20th. Just over 40 per cent (41.9%) of those who said they have never bought or sold a property were from Ontario, while another 17.4 per cent were from British Columbia.
Of those respondents who said they had never bought or sold a property, 50.4 per cent were between the ages of 25 and 34; another 23 per cent were between the ages of 35 and 45.
50.7 per cent of those who have never bought or sold a property said they perceived the process to be complicated, requiring the assistance of a professional such as a REALTOR®. By comparison, 60.8 per cent of those who said they had bought or sold more than one property described it as a simple process, but they will still ask for advice from a real estate professional.
