Red Deer Alberta, a great place to live

Red Deer lies in the “parkland” of Alberta. Evident when driving North from Calgary on The QE2 highway, you are welcomed by rolling hills, green fields and trees galore. A rather sharp contrast to the prairie fields of southern Alberta.

The trees that are abundant in Red Deer, and the lush river valley are not the only attractions to the area. Red Deer had some distinct architecture, fixtures, parks and features. It’s many of these parks, and green spaces that make Red Deer unique and a great place to live.

The “Green Onion” is one such landmark that is both functional and a feature. The large green water tower has been affectionately dubbed the Green Onion by many. Sitting on top of the hill in a mature area known as Mountview, many kids have used it as a guide to find there way back from Kin Kanyon, Rotary Park, and for those of us old enough the old Westerner Exposition grounds.
